Boo!- it's Halloween!

Hi All

I'm rather late with my post for

Fab'n'Funky Challenges

My blogging is a bit sporadic due to illness in the family
and things have taken a greater turn for the worse this week

I've eventually finished my card for this week so i'm really just sending a reminder for anyone to join in with their Halloween projects - you must have some!!

Our theme is very simple!

Halloween!

We are sponsored by the fab

Lemon Shortbread

who are offering a prize of 3 images to our winner this week

the team were given some fab images to work with

I chose the cute

Holloween Dracula Party

and suprise! it opens to form a pop twist card!

I made this for my grandson Jacob who absolutely loved it!  Its a very sturdy card and just as well as he played with it all afternoon - jumping out and shouting BOO! as he opened the card
Here's a (very short!!) video of him : )

I just saw this style of card last week and set about finding out how to make it - there are lots of tutorials on youtube - really easy to make and very effective
- you should give it a try!!

Here's what I did...

New illustrator pens from Crafter's Companion - i'm in love!!

Good morning all

I have a huuuuge(!) card to share today
(its around 8 x 10 inches)
but I really needed the space to give this lovely image centre stage and have space for my hessian and embellies too!!

I coloured this up with the fabulous new Spectrum Noir Illustrator pens that are being launched today.  I can honestly say that these are my favourite pens ever, they blend so beautifully and have a wonderful fine detail nib as well as a brush nib which blends like a dream.  It took me a couple of attempts to get it right because you need to use a really light touch, but that's no different to any new pens!
If you colour - you need these pens!!

This is what I did

The image is an old favourite from Justinklined called Serenity a lovely summy image but also used it a couple of times before for retirement cards

I used the following pen colours for this image
DG2,DG3,GB2,GB4,GB7,GG2,GY3,YG1,YG2,IG1,CR11,PP1,PP6,MB1,MB2,BT1

The sentiment is from a Fiskars set called Make a wish - on of my go sentiment sets - there are some lovely ones as well as a good old happy birthday - so you can't go wrong

The papers are a very old K and Co and sadly it was my last sheet of this one : (

Kraft Card fr0m Crafters Companion
Frame made with Sue Wilson's pierced Rectangle Noble dies
Hessian and flip frops i got on a visit to Michaels craft store when I was in Florida

Don't miss the shows on Hochanda TV (freeview 85/ Sky 663) where the lovely Leann will be launching these lovely pens at 10am today

Lot's more lovely new goodies following this week at Crafter's Companion birthday week celebrations
hope to see you there!

Put a little sparkle in your life

Good morning all

I can't believe we've arrived at Wednesday again!
the weeks are just flying by
and it's time fro another challenge at

Fab'n'Funky Challenges

This week we have two themes to choose from

Shades of Grey and One other colour
or
Lots of sparkle

I chose to go with lots of sparkle
1 - because it's always good to have a little sparkle in your life
2 - it's an opportunity to use my lovely Spectrum Noir sparkle pens!!

this is the beautiful
Harleqinade - Venetian Mask
available HERE

I decided to keep the colouring very soft, first of all using my Spectrum Noir Colourblend pencils - I love how easy they are to blend, then I used the clear Spectrum noir sparkle pen to highlight areas on her face and the flowers and created some sparkle and I then used another pen in the shade biscuit  to colour all of the droplets, finally i coloured her eyes in the black sparkle pen which looks really dtamatic IRL  -   I really like the whole  effect. I decided to keep it really simple to focus on the image.  Using just a frame in black card made with the Sue Wilson Noble square dies, then added the die cut 'celebrate' across the bottom corner which is also coloured with the black sparkle pen

pencils used - face - cream, vanilla, mulberry, peach, pebble, black
                       Flowers, mulberry,redcurrant,lemongrass, peach, carnation,pistachio, earth,
background shading - mulberry, lemongrass, peach, black, redcurrant

The image was provided by our fab sponsor this week

AuroraWings

who are also giving a prize of $10 to spend in store to our lucky winner
- it could be you!!

hope you'll join in and play along this week

If music be the food of love.......

Good morning all

We have a lovely theme for our new challenge at

The Paper Shelter

my very favourite thing in the world
(I think even more than crafting)
is music : )

and so that is our this weeks theme

Music

I've always loved music, when I was young I sang, followed the charts, had my favourite artists, fell asleep listening to radio Luxemburg under my pillow....
now my relationship with music is different,  I still sing - anywhere and everywhere!  But my love of current music is not so great, some I like, some not so much! - But I still have my favourites, love to drive along with the radio playing, love live concerts.
This week I've been lucky to get tickets to two fabulous concerts
- my first this year!  I was giving up hope of seeing anyone.
The first is Barbra Streisand  just announced last week and I was thrilled to learn that she is appearing at an arena in Tampa Florida when we go in November.  I haven't seen her live before -  she has been one of my all time favorites for ever! - This week I've been singing Evergreen at the top of my voice all over the house!! - just as well I have a fabulous singing voice lol.

The second one is David Gray at the Sage in Gateshead.
A fabulous venue for this type of performance - It's an acoustic performance
I've seen him twice before and each time he was just fabulous - just as good live as on a recording.  That's just before Christmas so the Sage will be decorated for the season - I'm excited already!!

but I digress - back to the challenge and my card

Instead of  one of the lovely images from TPS I decided to use one of the paper sets
this one is called Spring Song available HERE.  It  has a lovely music print on it, and I've teamed it with music themed die cuts and pretty embellies to fit the theme

As always there is a fab prize on offer at TPS

http://www.thepapershelter.com/

Hope you'll play along with us
