Remembrance by Fairy Dust Images - Whimsy stamps challenge

Good morning blog friends

Today is the first challenge of the year over at Whimsy Stamps and the theme is

Fancy Edges

there are 3 fab prizes up for grabs this month
A gift certificate, 5 Digi's and a rubber stamp
But remember!
You have to be in it to win it!!

I've chosen this gorgeous image to work with

It is from Fairy Dust Images at Whimsy Stamps
and is called
Remembrance
available here

a close up of the image

I loved this image when I first saw it - I love "wings" but I couldn't quite decide what to do with it.

Sometimes inspiration comes in the strangest, saddest ways and that is where mine appeared for this card.  My husbands uncle had been very ill and died just after New Year and I knew this was the perfect image to use for a card to give to his auntie.  I don't think this image is necessarily suitable for this type of card for everyone - but I knew it was just right this time.  Auntie Joan is someone who really loves arty crafty things and I ways make sure that I make her special cards which she always loves, so I felt sure that she would see my thoughts and prayers that came with this card.

This is what I did

Coloured with - copics
Sentiment - Produced in word
Die cuts - Marianne large ovals by Petra (thanks Vicky for the inspiration!)
Papers - MME Market
Distress ink - Tea Dye from Tim Holtz
Flowers - wild orchid crafts
Gems in centre of ribbons - Prima say it in crystals from Oyster crafts
Other gems from my stash
Ribbons from my stash
Leaves cut with Martha Stewart punch

There are so many gorgeous cards that the DT have made for your inspiration this month - go on over to whimsy stamps and have a look at cards my talented teamies have made

Challenges I'm entering with this stamp

Digital Tuesdays - flower power
Tuesday throwdown - frame it
Artistic inspiration - anything goes
Crafty cardmakers blog - create a fairytale scene

Whimsy Stamps inspiration post -Maya from Marika Collins

Good morning my lovely friends

And a special welcome to my new followers - its lovely to have you visit me and I hope you'll find something here to inspire you.

I have a card today that I made with one of the lovely girly stamps
fom Marika Collins over at whimsy stamps

Her name is Maya and you can find her here

I decided to go for a bit of a grungy look - she looks like she might be a grungy cool kind of girl lol.

this was the card that i was originally going to post for My time to craft last with with all my fab new craft goodies from christmas - only to discover that that wasn't the challenge at all!

I got some fab new copic colours one set being E70, E71 and E74 that I really liked the look of for things like a darker neutral jeans colour and also for animal furs - perhaps teddies, I like these type of colours. Anyway off I went colouring away when the darkest of the colours just splodged a huge dollop of ink out - I couldn't believe it!! I think I managed to rescue it quite well - it was on the knee area but don't you just hate when that happens - my "sharp intake of breath" ( I did manage to restrain myself quite well!!) could probably be heard for several miles around lol

Anyway here's what I did ...
(and details of my new goodies)

Coloured with- copics and prismacolor pencils
Papers - MME - Lost and found blush
Circle dies - spellbinders
Pearls (coloured with copics to tone) 0 from my stash
Ribbon - carnmeal cottage
.....and my new goodies
Corner set - Whimsy stamps
Butterfly - elegant butterfly set from Whimsy stamps
Tags (including birdie and "so tweet" sentiment ) - notched tag set from Dienamics
Sentiment - from the grunge birthday set at lili of the valley

wasn't I a lucky girl - Santa was very good to me!

Hope you like her

I'm entering the following challenges

Paper crafting journey - Anything goes
My heart pieces - getting girly
Happy Campers -Buttons beads and bows
CCEE - new toys
allsorts challenge - dies and punches

Have a great weekend everyone

Floral delights challenge at MAWTT

Good morning all

We have a fab new sponsor over at MAWTT

are sponsoring us this week
for our

Floral Delights Challenge
(anything with flowers)

The DT girls got to choose a sponsor digi to use in this challenge and I have to say I was delighted with the gorgeous floral images we had to choose from - they are all so pretty - and there's some fab inspiration on the shop website too - you really should go on over and take a peek

I chose the gorgeous Morning Glory digi to work with - I love morning glory - they are just so pretty - it also reminds me of a lovely novel I read years ago of the same name - by Lavyrle Spencer -  I remember the story so well - just a simple tale, set just after the depression in America, that has stayed in my memory for all these years, a real old fashioned love story beautifully written
give it a try if you love this sort of story - I'm sure you'll love it
for me the book and the flower always remind me of each other!

Anyway back to my card, I kept it really simple to keep the focus on the image, I always think images like this look so much better kept plain and simple

This is what I did....

Image - Morning Glory from a Passion for stamps
Coloured with copics
Happy birthday stamp - from  Anna Griffin flower set
Die cut behind sentiment - spellbinders
Die cut corners - whimsy stamps

Our first challenge this year at Fab'n'Funky Challenges - Its Winter!

Good morning blog friends

Well I recon Jackie got it just about right when she set this weeks challenge over at

Fab'n'Funky Challenges

Winter

she said!
and winter it is!

Our first really cold day this year and I don't like it one little bit!

The best bit about this challenge is the really virtuous feeling I got having made my first Christmas card this year - I'm really full of good intentions(aren't we always at this time of year)
I'm going to try to make a Christmas card every other week for the rest of the year
Not even every week - I don't want to be too ambitious after all lol

We have two fabulous sponsors this week at Fab'n'Funky challenges

Our regular first prize sponsor

Who is regularly sponsoring our challenge this year with a special first prize

and

I chose a really cute digi fom
over at Whimsy Stamps

She is called
Raggedy Girl Sled and is available here

I was actually feeling a bit down about not making Christmas cards
- because no matter how busy it can be
they really are the very best cards to make
you can go totally OTT with the sparkle and bling like no other time of the year!!

So I decided to have a real glitter and sparkle fest with this one and I got to use those gorgeous glittery snowflakes that didn't even make it out of the box and onto my last years card - what a waste!

This is what I did....

Digi stamp - Raggedy girl sled from Stampart by Kathryne
Coloured with - Copics and Prismacolor pencils
Papers -  recollections blue Christmas from Michaels
the blingy snow flakes and words are also from recollections
Die cut snowflakes - Dienamics dies
Die cut frame - spellbinders labels ten
Ribbon and check card  from my stash
Pearl sticks - cut from pearl sticks from Wild orchid crafts
Glittered with - Diamond stickles

So if you want that virtuous feeling that a Christmas card in January can bring come on over to
Fab'n'Funky challenges this week and bring a winter card with you - see you there!

All about the New at My Time to Craft Challenge Blog

Good morning blogfriends

Well here we are at the first weekend of 2013 with the first challenge of the year for MTTC.  which is

All about the New

I have to confess that I didn't do very well with this challenge - totally because I didn't read it properly!- something that all bloggers who enter challenges suffer from from time to time!!  For this challenge the new can be New Year, new baby, new house but NOT new stash - and that's where I went wrong - when I read the challenge I though it said and new stash - so off I went and made my card - which is not the one I've posted here!!  I made a lovely card with lots of my new goodies that i got from santa - lovely new colours for my copics, new dies and a lovely stamp - but totally wrong for this challenge!!

 - so be warned - NOT new stash.

I managed to find a card that I hadn't posted before that fit that challenge perfectly - something I made ages ago, the card was really lovely and sparkly and shiney - the photo is terrible - and for that I must apologise. I've always photographed my cards - long before I started to blog just to serve as a reminder if i want to make something similar again, and this was just a quick snap really!

It was so last minute when I went to post the card - even though I hadn't rushed to make it -that I didn't have time to make another on top of that my mojo isn't doing very well at the moment - I think he's still on holiday, along with my craft stuff which was also put away for the holidays, I just can't seem to get it together all at the minute - hopefully I'll get it right soon!!!

anyway onto my card

This is what I did (from what I remember)....

Card  -  made from plain blue card, white card and silver miri card - layered together
Lettering -  cut on Slice die cutter (which I borrowed to try out a while ago)
Labels and congrats  - also die cut on slice
Edges done with a martha stewart edge punch
Baby sticker, ribbon and button - from my stash

It really was a very easy card to make. I decided not to go with the slice and bought a cricut expression instead. Though to be fair the slice is very portable, easy to us, good for layering and I could have found a home for it among my craft tools and I think its a lot cheaper now than it used to be (well if you import it from the US it is!!) - but at the time it seemed a bit expensive for what it was.

Challenges I'm entering with this card

Totally papercrafts - something new
Crafts for eternity - something new (MM slice)
link up for pink - a dash of pink
a gem of a challenge - new beginings

Have a great weekend
