Its a no DP challenge at Fab'n'Funky

Hello again

I'm back again today because we have a new challenge over at

No Designer Papers

We're being sponsored this week by Joanna Sheen who is offering a prize of a voucher to spend in store

I had a card to make for the son of our best friends who's 25  - so needed a masculine card with a modern twist so decided that this Kenny K image fit the bill

The inside

I decided to keep it very plain and manly! He's definately not a flowers and bows kind of guy.  so simply used a ribbed kraft card that I distresed with inks as the base and kept everything else to a minimum so that the focus of the card is the image. I glossed his specs, guitar and jewellery with glossy accents - I think you can just see it in the photograph.  I enjoyed colouring this fun image, he's definitely got a personality and I'd like to think I captured it!

This is what I did .....

Image Digi by Kenny K
Coloured with - Copics and prismacolor pencils
glossy accents
Distress ink - Brushed corduroy by Tim Holtz
Die cut happy birthday - cut on Cricut expression - gypsy wanderings
Die cut Party like a rock star  - cut on cricut imagine - indie art cartridge
Screw brads - creative expressions

Challenges I'm entering with this card

Clear it out challenge - Kareoke - what else but "its only rock and roll" by the rolling stones (hes definately got Mick Jagger lips lol)
Ladybug crafts ink -Birthdays
Party time tuesday - anything + Kraft
Crafty boots challenge - no girls allowed!
Crafty Anns challenge -its a man thing
The stamp man challenge blog - distressed or shabby chic
Whimsy Stamps challenge - Distressing

See you again tomorow for my last DT card of the week

Gardening Gems at My Time to Craft

Hello again!

It's my busy week for challenges this week and the second for today

Today's challenge at My Time to Craft is

Gardening gems

Heres my DT card for the challenge

I love this little girl and I have to confess she reminds me of myself when I was little, my hair was just like that.  My husband said the same thing when he looked at the card , probably because we had the old photos out quite recently, so he was reminded.  I have to confess that this card was a happy accident.  I made it for another challenge that I thought was ribbons and pearls but it turned out to be lace and pearls so it didn't fit!  I could have pulled that gorgeous ribbon off and replaced it with lace but I just couldn't bring myself to do it because it wouldn't have looked half as nice and  I knew it would fit in with another challenge sometime - and this is it!

This is a lovely challenge - a chance to get out all your flowers and pretty papers and garden related stash and make a lovely spring themed  card perfect for our sunny spring days - that we're not getting, but at least you can make a card and pretend lol !!

Heres what I did....

Image - digi from Digi Doodle Shop  "field of flowers"
Coloured with - Copics and Prismacolour Pencils
Card - Coredinations Kore Kraft by Tim Holtz - distressed by sanding the edges
Organza Ribbon - Carnmeal Cottage
Tag - cut on Sizzix
Flower and leaves - Spellbinders - build a rose
Pearl brad  - Whiff of Joy
Paper - My Minds Eye  - Fiddlesticks

Challenges I am entering with this card

B'n'W challenge blog -spring is in the air
The shabby tea room - Ribbon and flowers
Truly madly crafty challenge - make your own flowers
Card makin mammas - make a girly card
Prairie Fairy fridays  - anything with flowers
Sweet'n' Sassy challenges - make it old

Well  that's all from me for today

See you tomorrow with another challenge

Animal antics at Creative Craft challenge

Hi blog friends

Its another challenge over at Creative craft Challenges today and the theme is

Animal Antics!

Which basically means - put an animal on your card!!!

We have some great sponsors for this challenge, Bugaboo and Robyns fetish are both offering prizes as well as Joanna Sheen, so why don't you have a crafty play and lets see what Animal Antics you can get up to.

Heres my DT card that has been made with one of the fab images supplied to the DT by the sponsors. This one is from Bugaboo

I loved this little image as soon as I saw it and it said to me "I'm a bee!"  I coloured it all up and glitterd his wings - very bee like I thought and found a sentiment to match.  When my husband was giving his obligatory comment - like all good crafty husbands do - he said yes its very good but isn't it supposed to be a butterfly!!  Well now that you mention it he's probably right but you've just got to go with your instincts - and mine are obviously way off lol.

a close up of the glitter details

I did a bit of recycling with this card  the raffia came on a lovely bunch of flowers that I bought that I knew would be perfect for a card.  And the flowers - although they're from wild orchid have had their middles pulled out! and replaced with a lovely black gem to finish off the look

Heres what I did

Image - digi from bugaboo (since found thats he's butterfly bear!!)
Coloured with copics and prismacolor pencils
Scalloped card - craftwork cards
Sentiment - is a digi - can't remember who's but I'll update if I find it
Flowers -wild orchid crafts
Paper - prima sun kiss
Everything else is from my stash

Why don't you stop by to see what the design team has done with their images - you'll find some real inspiration from my talented teamies!

i'm entering this card in the following challenges

Ooh la la creations - bright and bold
Made especially for you - recycled  (raffia tied around card)
2 sisters challenge blog - use a digi
crazy 4 challenges - use black cardstock on your project
Di's digi design -lets meet your animal friends
Twisted Tuesday Challenge - Child inspired with a funny sentiment

Hope you all have a bee-utiful day

Its Christmas!!!!

Merry Christmas everybody!

Well we're all freezing , we've had snow and hailstones so I think its right  ....it must be Christmas!!   So come on over and join us at  Moving Along with the Times.
Its never to early to make a start on the Christmas Cards so thats what we would like to see from everyone for this weeks challenge.

We are sponsored by Bugaboo who kindly gave us some of their images to play with.

The Prize is a whopping 7 Images from their store (WOW Thats $21 Dollars worth!!!)

Here is my Christmas creation!

This is a gift box / easel card combined (yes yet another easel card!)  I made some of these last Christmas.  It has a little drawer where you can put a small gift such as jewellery or some sweets or chocolates.  you could use the same idea for  allsorts of other occasions.

the tag under the easel
It makes an ordinary card just a little bit special and so easy to make - just a box with an easel on top and a tag in a pocket at the back of the easel fold.   I'll try to get a tutorial together some time.

I really think it will do you all good to rattle out a Christmas card for our challenge this week here's some good reasons why!
  • Its one less to do at Christmas
  • It'll give you some good cheer
  • Its cold enough to pretend its Christmas
  • You're bound to have loads of Christmas stash - get it used so you can buy more later in the year!!
Go on over to the MAWTT  blog for lots of inspiration from our DT and check out those bugaboo digis

This is what I did ....
(sorry not much detail here as it came out of my Christmas stash box in the drawer under the bed!!)

Image - Digi from Bugaboo digis
Punched borders - EK Success
buttons - Papermania
All other materials - from my Christmas stash

I've entered this card to the following challenges

Crimbo crackers- Festive Food (hope this hot chocolate/marshmallow drink counts!)
Paperplay Challenges - Animal Antics
Crafting for all seasons - anything but a card
Little red wagon - Pockets
Paper makeup cards - Pocket card
Have a great day and enjoy your Christmas crafting!

Lace and Pearls over at Fab'n'Funky Challenges

Morning all

I haven't been around much these last few days - been really busy trying to catch up with things  (the story of my life!!)but should be able to do some visiting over the next few days.

Today is challenge day at Fab'n'Funky challenges and the new challenge is being sponsored by

Our theme for the week chosen by the lovely Pat is

Lace and pearls

Here is my DT card, which I made using one of the lovely images from The Digi Doodle Shop Called Daisy Girl, isn't she just so sweet!

Two other views of the card

As you can see I'm still on my easel card "thing" - each time I see an image my mind says - that would make a nice easel card - don't know if I've got a bit of an easel problem and has it got bad enough that I need help lol....

I've stood the easel right back so you can see the sentiment but really it  looks better when it stands in front of the sentiment on the lace - oh that lace it gave me such problems this week - made my DT card and completely forgot the lace part of the challenge so this is the second, and completely different card I made - note to self - read the challenge when making a  DT card!!

Anyway enough of the chat

Thats all from me for today - see you tomorrow for the new MAWTT challenge this week

A Cool Cat for my Cool Cat xxx

Good Morning Bloggers

This is an unusual Saturday morning post from me - the crazy cat woman!!  No I haven't taken to sending birthday cards to my cats but when I saw this new digi from Crissy Armstrong  ( I love her stamps)  last week I just knew it was the perfect card for my son Matthews 24th birthday today.  We still have a couple cats today but when our kids were little I used to breed and show British Shorthairs and we had such fun.  The kids loved when we had kittens and we used to travel around the country going to the cat shows, and I fondly remember the Christmas when we had kittens running up the Christmas tree!!  Out of my three kids  I always knew that Matthew loved the cats best. We had a huge magnificent brown tabby Persian cat called Toby who was just a pet but Matthew loved him and to all the kids in the neighbourhood he was known as "Grand Master Toby!"  It makes me smile now to think about it all. I gave up the breeding and showing about eight or nine years ago - I had to make the choice between having kittens and having holidays because looking after the cats was getting a much for my parents and in laws when we went away - so the holidays won!!

Anyway Matthew is sharing his birthday today with the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic and his birthday is a titanic event indeed!  I had originally got a Kenny K rocker digi for his card but this one just shouted out to me when I saw it!  My Matthew is a "too cool for school kind of guy" and I know he'll appreciate this card.  I've become addicted to easel cards lately so here's is another one.  It took me hours to make this last night and when I went to bed (way too late) I still wasn't happy with it, its been put together pulled to bits layered and embellished with all kinds before it ended up like this!  After a bit more messing with it this morning I've learned to love it!!  It did at one point have a big yellow sunshine in the corner - now I'm wondering should I put it back......

I'm sitting here writing this and eating my breakfast at the same time.  My daughter just sent me a text with a photo of my grandson wearing some dungarees that I bought for him last week  -with the tag line - he looks a painter and  decorator!!  We  just had such a good laugh - see what you think.
Need any painting done?
He's such a little bruiser- 4 months old yesterday and grown out of all his clothes - he's just moved to 6-9 months size, he's nearly big enough to be a painter and decorator!!

Anyway back to this card

What I did....

Digi Stamp - Cool cat by Crissy Armstrong at Whimsy Stamps
Coloured with - Copics and prismacolour pencils
Sun Glasses and Glass - Glossied with glossy accents
Scalloped card - Craftwork cards
Paper - K & Co
Foam palm trees - American crafts
Cool cat sentiment - computer produced
Meow - from a set from QVC .... years ago - wondered when I was going to use it!

I've been such a bad blogger these last couple of days I haven't got round to do my comments since Wednesday,  had a manic couple of days and I had to get this card done last night which took WAY to long.  I will catch up over the next couple of evenings.

Have a great weekend everyone, i've got another busy day ahead so must be off!

I'm entering this card for the following challenges

Whimsy Stamps - easel cards are easy!
Crafty Ann's challenge blog - Its a man thing
Crafty Catz weekly challenge - Animals
Frosted Designs - Weather
Stampelsonne - stamp must be the main focus of the card
The playdate cafe - colour challengs - yellow/blue/green/red

Vintage and Shabby Chic at MAWTT challenge

Good Morning blog friends

This is my third day in a row - might just go for four tomorrow!

Its challenge day over at Moving Along With The Times challenge blog

This week's Challenge theme was chosen by our lovely Sue and is ….

'SHABBY CHIC and/or VINTAGE'

So we want to see creations that are either Shabby Chic or have a Vintage Image/theme or both!  It doesn't have to be a card - as long as you follow the theme.

I've gone for the vintage look and used a lovely 1920s style lady stamp from Kanban called Cavendish Ladies.  This is a stamp I've had for absolutely ages but have never used - I've no idea why because I bought them because I really liked them (there's another 2 in the set -also unused!) and I was really pleased with how it turned out, it was a change to make a DL size card instead of square- that's probably why I haven't used the stamp before!. The image is mounted up with a few layers of card but I've used very few embellishments - even the art deco corner stamps came with the set.

We are sponsored this week by the fab Crafty Emma's Store

who are very kindly giving the Winner of this week's challenge  a £10.00 Voucher to spend in-store (excluding P & P)

This is what I did....

Stamp - Kanban Cavendish ladies
Coloured with - Copics and Prismacolor pencils
Paper - Marianne designs (songbook I think)
Distress ink - Tim Holtz Tea Dye
Tag - cut with Sizzix tag die
Resin rose - a free gift from My Crafty Heart

Ocean deep challenge - Inspired by a song (3 times a lady - Lionel Richie)

On all fours at Fab'n'Funky Challenges - with clever rabbits!

Good Morning blog friends

I've had to be very strict with myself this morning!  I knew I had  a post to do today because its another challenge day at Fab'n'Funky Challenges but I'm back to work tomorrow and if I didn't get the ironing caught up I wouldn't be able to get out of the door!!  So I've spent the morning doing catch up on ironing and all sorts of jobs and  I've now let myself log in - believe me it hasn't been easy, think I might need some help with this blogging addiction of mine lol.

This week at Fab'n'Funky the theme is

"on all fours"

......ooh er what does that mean you may ask!  Well, its easy really - use an animal on your project -preferably a four legged one.  I've used a cute Lili of the Valley stamp for mine that my daughter bought me for my birthday and its brand new out of the packet - now these rabbits on here are particularly clever! - normally they stand on all fours - but just to pose for this picture they stood on two!!

This week we are sponsored by

A very pink fairy!

Hi there blog friends

Hope you've all recovered from your Easter weekend. Holiday weekends always leave me totally confused and at the end of it all I haven't got a clue what day it is.  This one seems to have been worse than most and I've definitely lost a day (or two!) along the way.

I've spent around 20 hours with my youngest son scribing for him for his popular culture essay on Christmas (his disability means he can't write or produce huge amounts of text typing so that's my job!)  I've never had quite so much Christmas at Easter before - but I've been well educated along the way.  The good thing is its all done and he's away off to Uni this morning to hand in his books at the library - and get out the next lot - any one for a 10,000 word dissertation on Convergence Theory!!

Enough of Easter (and Christmas!) - I was caught totally on the hop for my DT card for the My Time to Craft Challenge - didn't realise it was Tuesday already and on top of that couldn't see how a whole two weeks had passed since the last challenge!     None the less it IS Tuesday today and time for another challenge at My Time to Craft.  Our new challenge for this fortnight is

Fairy Nice

So dust off those fairies - yes all those as yet un-inked and hidden away in your stash - and lets see all your pretty -  or even dark and wicked - fairies this next two weeks.  The DT girls have made some wonderful cards  for your inspiration  so get over to the challenge blog to see what we've all done - and show us your Magical cards

I've made the pinkest card ever! - with lots of glitter - I'm sure some little girl out there will love this - who doesn't love a fairy!

This is what I did.....

I wanted to keep it fairly simple, its not exactly a CAS card but its not too busy -I managed to hold back on the flowers this time

Stamp - Lili of the Valley Pom Pom
Coloured with - Copics and Prismacolor pencils
Papers - Forever Friends  New Arrival
Distressed with - Tim Holtz Tattered Rose distress ink
Butterflies - Martha Stewart punch

Sweet Stampin challenge -Dies and Doodles

An easel wedding card

Happy Good Friday!

I've been rushing about trying to get s wedding card finished for my daughter to take to a wedding they are going to this weekend.  Her husband Steven is best man so it hasd to fit the "special" bill.  I've made various cards over the last few year for Claire - who is the bride and she always loves her handmade cards so I know it will be well received.

I decided to use this lovely Lili of the Valley stamp, I've used it several times for wedding cards, its so simple that I think it allows you to go a bit overboard with the embellies whereas if the image is fussy I'm inclined to hold back a bit - suppose it depends what sort of card you want really.

I've use the three photos to try and show the card off to its best.  its a really dull day and I just couldn't get a good photo in or outside so hopefully you've got the idea!

What I did....

Stamp and sentiment - lili of the valley
Coloured with - copics and prismacolor pencils
Card - craftwork cards
Papers - prima meadow lark
pearl swirls - personal impressions
Flowers - wild orchid and others
Die cut swirl - memory box
Die cut circles - spell binders
Ribbon - carnmeal cottage
Glitter glue (on veil) - martha stewart silver

I'm entering this card for the following challenges

Lilis little fairies - ribbons and bows
Totally Papercrafts - Bingo (pink, glitter, pearls)
Wags'n Whiskers - say it with flowers
The pretty little ribbon - Dies to die for
4 crafty chicks - flowers

Thats all for me today
See you tomorrow
