Good morning all

Today is our last challenge for the year over at

Winter Wonderland

this one doesn't need to be a Christmas project

our dual themes are

Happy New Year
or
For Someone Special

I chose to go with a box card for someone special
and it's a very special person to me - an absolute treasure 💕💕
- my Grandson Jacob - who was 5 years old on Tuesday

I've bought a few of the Tattered Lace  Disney dies as they've come up
- just odd ones that I could use to make a few cards and Christmas projects

This one is supposed to be a Christmas Die(and he has a present in his hands that I cut off!)- but he suits this winter birthday just as well
and Jacob loves Donald Duck
when we went to Walt Disney World and he went to 'meet' the characters
there wwre 4 lines to choose
- Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald
........we stood in line to meet Donald Duck!!

and here is Jacob with the Duck himself!!
this was taken just before last Christmas - now he's a whole year older
where does the time go!

We have two fab sponsors for our challenge this week

Crafter's Companion

and

A Day for Daisies

I was so pleased with how this card turned out - if not a bit fiddly and definitely time consuming!!
 - but totally worth the effort

Hope we see you at Winter Wonderland this last time for 2016!

Pop up box card made with Core'dnations card stock in blue and yellow from Crafter's Companion

Things with wings challenge at Fab'n'Funky Challenges

Good morning all

Greetings from sunny Florida!

I expect you're all wondering where I got to lately!
Unfortunately we've had a pretty bad time over the last few months at home.  My father in law was very ill for a long time and sadly passed away on 31st October.  Things had been pretty bad for quite a while before that and to make things even worse I came down with flu just a few days after that.

We've eventually got through it all and were lucky enough to have our holiday in Florida booked for a well deserved break, We've been here for six days now and over the last couple of days I've felt almost human again!!

So hopefully I'll be able to pick back up on my blog a bit more now  - which has been sadly neglected of late : )

We have a new challenge over at

The theme was chosen by our lovely Sharon who  is hosting this week
and she has chosen the theme

Things with Wings

I didn't manage to make a card specially for this challenge but I did have one already made that fit the theme so decided to join in

We have a lovely sponsor this week

who are offering a fab prize for our winner

This is what I did....

Crafter's Companion 5x5 Create a card die - Country garden
and Crafters Companion 5x2 create a card die - thinking of you

with just a couple of sheets of card and a ribbon and some lace together with a sparkle embellie from creative expressions this card was very quick and easy to make

I hope you'll call in and check out the DT's creations and join in with our challenge this week
and I'll be visiting you all  again really soon!

New illustrator pens from Crafter's Companion - i'm in love!!

Good morning all

I have a huuuuge(!) card to share today
(its around 8 x 10 inches)
but I really needed the space to give this lovely image centre stage and have space for my hessian and embellies too!!

I coloured this up with the fabulous new Spectrum Noir Illustrator pens that are being launched today.  I can honestly say that these are my favourite pens ever, they blend so beautifully and have a wonderful fine detail nib as well as a brush nib which blends like a dream.  It took me a couple of attempts to get it right because you need to use a really light touch, but that's no different to any new pens!
If you colour - you need these pens!!

This is what I did

The image is an old favourite from Justinklined called Serenity a lovely summy image but also used it a couple of times before for retirement cards

I used the following pen colours for this image
DG2,DG3,GB2,GB4,GB7,GG2,GY3,YG1,YG2,IG1,CR11,PP1,PP6,MB1,MB2,BT1

The sentiment is from a Fiskars set called Make a wish - on of my go sentiment sets - there are some lovely ones as well as a good old happy birthday - so you can't go wrong

The papers are a very old K and Co and sadly it was my last sheet of this one : (

Kraft Card fr0m Crafters Companion
Frame made with Sue Wilson's pierced Rectangle Noble dies
Hessian and flip frops i got on a visit to Michaels craft store when I was in Florida

Don't miss the shows on Hochanda TV (freeview 85/ Sky 663) where the lovely Leann will be launching these lovely pens at 10am today

Lot's more lovely new goodies following this week at Crafter's Companion birthday week celebrations
hope to see you there!

Put a little sparkle in your life

Good morning all

I can't believe we've arrived at Wednesday again!
the weeks are just flying by
and it's time fro another challenge at

Fab'n'Funky Challenges

This week we have two themes to choose from

Shades of Grey and One other colour
or
Lots of sparkle

I chose to go with lots of sparkle
1 - because it's always good to have a little sparkle in your life
2 - it's an opportunity to use my lovely Spectrum Noir sparkle pens!!

this is the beautiful
Harleqinade - Venetian Mask
available HERE

I decided to keep the colouring very soft, first of all using my Spectrum Noir Colourblend pencils - I love how easy they are to blend, then I used the clear Spectrum noir sparkle pen to highlight areas on her face and the flowers and created some sparkle and I then used another pen in the shade biscuit  to colour all of the droplets, finally i coloured her eyes in the black sparkle pen which looks really dtamatic IRL  -   I really like the whole  effect. I decided to keep it really simple to focus on the image.  Using just a frame in black card made with the Sue Wilson Noble square dies, then added the die cut 'celebrate' across the bottom corner which is also coloured with the black sparkle pen

pencils used - face - cream, vanilla, mulberry, peach, pebble, black
                       Flowers, mulberry,redcurrant,lemongrass, peach, carnation,pistachio, earth,
background shading - mulberry, lemongrass, peach, black, redcurrant

The image was provided by our fab sponsor this week

AuroraWings

who are also giving a prize of $10 to spend in store to our lucky winner
- it could be you!!

hope you'll join in and play along this week

If music be the food of love.......

Good morning all

We have a lovely theme for our new challenge at

The Paper Shelter

my very favourite thing in the world
(I think even more than crafting)
is music : )

and so that is our this weeks theme

Music

I've always loved music, when I was young I sang, followed the charts, had my favourite artists, fell asleep listening to radio Luxemburg under my pillow....
now my relationship with music is different,  I still sing - anywhere and everywhere!  But my love of current music is not so great, some I like, some not so much! - But I still have my favourites, love to drive along with the radio playing, love live concerts.
This week I've been lucky to get tickets to two fabulous concerts
- my first this year!  I was giving up hope of seeing anyone.
The first is Barbra Streisand  just announced last week and I was thrilled to learn that she is appearing at an arena in Tampa Florida when we go in November.  I haven't seen her live before -  she has been one of my all time favorites for ever! - This week I've been singing Evergreen at the top of my voice all over the house!! - just as well I have a fabulous singing voice lol.

The second one is David Gray at the Sage in Gateshead.
A fabulous venue for this type of performance - It's an acoustic performance
I've seen him twice before and each time he was just fabulous - just as good live as on a recording.  That's just before Christmas so the Sage will be decorated for the season - I'm excited already!!

but I digress - back to the challenge and my card

Instead of  one of the lovely images from TPS I decided to use one of the paper sets
this one is called Spring Song available HERE.  It  has a lovely music print on it, and I've teamed it with music themed die cuts and pretty embellies to fit the theme

As always there is a fab prize on offer at TPS

http://www.thepapershelter.com/

Hope you'll play along with us

This is what I did

Papers - Spring Song 6x6 paper set

Thursday 29 September 2016

Thought for the day! Even if you start now how many cards could you make by Christmas!

Good morning all

Sorry I don't know what happened to my yesterday's post (well I do it was still in draft!!)
- here it is!!

Today is a new challenge day over at

and the theme is

Christmas

So  I I ask the question in a different way!

Have you got time to make all your Christmas cards this year - how many have you made already!!
If you're anything like me
you will have started off with good intentions in January
and on that strategy I now have maybe a 15 or 20 cards
- but none of my special cards have been made and I certainly don't have enough.
In reality there's a lot of work to be done between now and Christmas card D - day,
- thats maybe 8 or 9 weeks time?-
so with that in mind how many do you need to make each week?

Have I scared you enough to go and make a card and enter it in our challenge this week
- I hope so lol

Here's mine made with a fab little precoloured image called

Christmas stocking - available here

We also have the incentive of  great prize this week
provided by our sponsor

I love this vintage style of card, some darker toned papers and distress ink - based on kraft card and you have the basics of a card.  This one was quite quick to make as the image is one of the precoloured ones - great for all those cards you're going to have to make,

another tip....
- never make a card once always duplicate it as the hardest part is the design, you don't even have to use the same image just repeat the design and you have two cards in super quick time
- I really should take my own advice!!

Here's what I did....

Image - Christmas Stocking from TPS
Papers - 6 x6 from Sara's Signature Traditional Christmas from Crafters Companion
Kraft Card - Crafters Companion
Distress ink - TH Gathered twigs and Tea dye
Die cuts - words -Christmas words from Sizzix by TH
Holly sprig die from Wild Rose crafts
Label dies - MFT
Poinsettia die - Memory box
Sparkler from the Hobby house
Bells were I think papermania embellies
Wooden stars, gems, ribbon and twine from my stash

Hope to see a flood of Christmas cardsthis week at Fab'n'Funky Challenges from you my crafty friends - and I'm going to keep plugging away from now til Christmas!

Challengesi'm entering

Rudolph days - Christmas anything goes
Aud sentiments - Anything goes
