Mid post reminder - Fab'n'Funky 3rd birthday celebration

Morning all

Brrr! Its cold this morning - there's a thick white frost on our garden and even the cat didn't want to venture out this morning.

I'm just calling in this morning to remind you about the great challenge we have going on over at Fab'n'Funky Challenges.  Its our 3rd birthday celebration and the theme is

Birthday with number 3
or 3 of something

Here's another card I made this week for the challenge - its been a busy week and I have't managed to do much crafting at all but I've put the effort in for Fab'n'Funky's birthday!

This cute little image is from Bugaboo digital stamps and is called Kidlets - curly haired boy
This card has a 3 on it (for the moment!) to celebrate our third birthday - though it already has 3 stars on it so it would have still been good for the challenge, but I really have it in mind for my son to give to my grandson for his first birthday, when I saw the image I knew it was perfect for him because he's a little curly haired moppett!! Both me and my daughter have curly hair and his is well on its way too - his hair is exactly the way his Mams was when she was little - ooo I love little boys with curly hair!

The rocking horse die cut was actually bought by my daughter when Jacob was christened for personalised table confetti and I kept one or two - had no idea why - but it just seemed perfect for this card! - don't ideas just sometimes turn up!

We have 3 great sponsors for our challenge and there's some fab prizes up for grabs so we really need to see your fab creations so you're in with a chance - you've got to be in it to win it as they say

This weeks sponsors are

Who are giving a prize of seven digi stamps to one lucky  winner

Who are Giving the lucky winner 3 digi stamps of their choice from the shop at Di's Digi Downloads

Who is giving the winner 5 stamps of the winners choice
from her shop over at Whimsey stamps

We also have a fabulous new sponsor

Cult Pens
Cult Pens

who will be offering a very special prize to end our challenge next week - be sure to come back to Fab'n'Funky challenges next week to see what this fabulous prize is!!

In the meantime Cult Pens are offering a discount of 10% in their store

Seing Stars challenge at moving Along with the Times

Good morning all

Hope this Thursday finds you well.  I'm hobbling around this morning on aching feet - but i don't deserve any sympathy! All due to dancing in the aisles in shoes that were far to high at the "Once in a lifetime" concert at the Metro arena last night.  We has a pre Christmas night out - Leo Sayer, Smokie, Hot Chocolate and David Cassidy.  We had a good giggle and enjoyed the night - though David Cassidy in his too tight pants with a sore throat was a bit of a let down - but Leo Sayer was brilliant!

Anyway onto todays challenge at MAWTT
chosen by our talented teamie

Leesa (aka the Navy Wife)

Here's my card for today

Delightful Challenges Let it snow challenge and the poorly snowman!!

Hello again

Well here I am again and to be honest I'm not quite sure how I got here this week.  I've been soooo busy that I felt sure that by today I would have given up!!

None the less I made it hooray!!

And the challenge
at Delightful Challenges this week  is

Let it snow
(use snowflakes)

Our fab sponsor this week is Scrappyland.com

Who are offering a fabulous prize of a Scrappyland $20 store gift card

Here's my card

This little snowman image is just so cute he's called Candy Cane Jingles and is available here

Now I'm sure you'll agree that snowmen make quite easy cards - after all he's white! - so hardly any colouring for a start.  I thought I would ring the changes by giving him a bit of shine with lovely shiny red boots, candy cane, buckle  and hollyberries ....and nose.  I used my glossy accents to do all of this and left it to dry.  I made up the rest of the card and put it all together when .....  shock horror!!!! - my snowman was poorly, now how do you know you might ask - simples - he has a runny nose!!

Well in another life I might have put this right but this week it was runny nose snowman or no card at all so for my card he might have to be renamed -Runny Nose Jingles with candy cane! -in my defence he has got lovely shiny boots ha ha.

This is what I did.....

Image - Candicane jingles by Digital Delights
Coloured with copics
Buckle - silver marker pen fro aldi!
Sentiment - from Naughty or Nice set from Digital Delights
Glossed with glossy accents
Papers - Merry from My minds Eye
Card - Bazill Basics
Snowflakes punched out with a Martha Stewart border punch
Bow die - Memory box
Pearls - from my crafty heart

Challenges I'm entering with this card

Southern girls - Christmas projects
Crimbo crackers - snowmen
Use your stuff - Christmas

That's me done for this week - see you next week

hugs

Whimsy stamps challenge - traditional christmas colours

Good morning all

I have my first card for the Whimsy Stamps Challenge blog to share with you today.

The challenge is

Traditional Christmas Colours

I decided to use this cute little Christmas bear designed by Kathy at Stampart by Kathryne called
Isn't he just so cute!

I've used this layout to make a few Christmas cards now - its quick and easy and you can ring the changes with different embellies, die cuts and shapes - I think this will be my layout for my 2012 Christmas cards - it takes me longer to decide the layout than it does to make the card most days!! - So now thats settled I might get some quick cards made lol.

Heres what i did....

Coloured with copics and prismacolour pencils

How many shades of grey do you really, really need!!?

Hello there blog friends - Happy Tuesday

Today I've got with a quick tutorial  that I've done for Inky impressions about two things really

  1. You don't need a Christmas image to make a Christmas card
  2. You only need one shade of grey - or one colour infact - no matter what that book says!!
I've made a quick and easy Christmas card with the Inky Impressions stamp

Hazel baking cookies
you can find her  here

I coloured her with copics - not particularly carefully (whoops!) - but that doesn't really matter when you use a prismacolour pencil to go back in to add shade and depth to the image. And to shade the whole image all you need is

One shade of grey!!

Infact prismacolor 70% warm grey.  You could use any grey or even black (and if I want an even deeper vintage look I do use black- it does great things when used with red - but thats for another day)  but for this particular card I wanted a warm look and thats what the 70% grey gives to this image.

Here is the image coloured with copics - it looks ok - but lacks any depth and as you can see I havent done a great deal of blending with the colours and it all looks a bit too bright in places

Next I added lines of grey where I wanted to add the shade with the pencil you'll notice I have not added any to the centre of the face

I then started to blend the pencil with Sansodor solvent

You can now see that there is a lot more depth to the image also I added shade to the centre of the face just by using whatever colour I had already picked up on my blending stump and blending it into the centre of  the face.

I then cleaned off my blending stump (with an emery board) and used just Sansodor to further blend and thin out the grey in places

All of the colours are now muted - which was the effect I was looking for- and there is shade and light to the little bears fur and the clothes and bowl.

I then trimmed the card and shaded with distress ink before I mounted the image onto green card and added  papers, ribbon  and embellies  to make this cute Christmas card - and there she is

Hazel baking her Christmas Cookies

This is what I used to make this card

Coloured with copics - fur E40,41,43  ribbon and apron trim R37,35,32  apron G28,07,00  bowl E53,51,       cookie mix E11,21, eyes B93 Inside ears YR 20,21
And ....Prismacolor pencil - one shade of grey 70% warm grey
Papers - first edition - festive treats (cookies were also cut from these papers)
Distress ink - Tea dye by Tim Holtz
Sentiment - LOTV
Shaped card - craftwork cards
Heart charm - Inky impressions
Gems and ribbon - from my stash

Challenges i'm entering with this card

Loves rubber stamps -anything goes

Now go and have a look at your stamps! There's lots of stamps you could use that aren't Christmas stamps that will make a beautiful Christmas card.  Hope I gave you some inspiration

hugs
