Life doesn't get any better than this!!

Good Morning Blog friends

Just a quick one from me today, its challenge day over at Creative Craft Challenges so just to remind you all to get on over there because we're going all patriotic with red, white and blue.  Its not my turn for this challenge and thank goodness for that 'cos here I am on me jollies in Florida.  I had a real card making marathon before I  came away but still didn't quite make all the cards I needed - only so many hours in the day.  DT girls at CCC had some great images to play with from our sponsors Our sponsors for this challenge are
Who are offering a lovely little selection of goodies
and
Who are providing some great digi images

I had even got as far as printing one out as I thought it would make a great bookmark for my lazing around this week (makes a change from the boarding card I usually use!) but I just didn't have time in the end so its back to the boarding card bookmark for me
I like to get up really early when I'm here and just sit by the pool surfing the net and chillin' until everyone else surfaces - which they just did at around 9! Been catching up on my DT commenting and generally nosying around, though the laptop here in this house is ancient and takes ages to load anything up - so I've been knitting at the same time while I'm waiting for the pages to open - don't like to waste time!!

I know the weathers been great back in the UK - hope theres some left for me when I get home!   I'm sad to say that its a bit of a dull morning here - no Florida sunshine just yet I hear theres a tropical storm brewing somewhere - but Floridas not Florida without rain and it soon passes - besides the lightening can be spectacular!   Just off now to have a swim in the pool and then we're off to visit Mickey Mouse today at Disneys Hollywood Studios - Rockin Rollercoaster here I come - there the secrets out - I'm a secret rollercoaster junkie!!!

I'm being very good and keeping up with my DT comments so far but not much time for lots of visiting all of you while I'm here - but I'll be on a catch up of anyone I miss when I get home

I even had a quick look at challenge winners today and had a really good day in yesterdays challenges I won top 5 in the crafty cardmakers challenge and the Love to create challenge - life really doesn't get much better than this!!

Have a great day everyone - hope the sun's shining where you are

Big Florida hugs

New beginnings and New Management at Fab'n'Funky Challenges

Good Morning Blog Friends

Today I have some exciting news!
I have taken over the management of Fab'n'Funky Challenges from the lovely Lou!
Lou decided that she can no longer commit to the time it takes to run the blog and to stand down.
Rather than see this Fabulous challenge blog close (as so many seem to be lately)
I agreed to take over from Lou.

Over the last couple of weeks I have been getting to grips with what goes on behind the scenes of running a blog like Fab'n'Funky Challenges.  I have to say "all hail" to all you lovely ladies (and men!) who do all the organising and running of all our challenge blogs - and to Lou for keeping ours going for so long - so successfully, it definitely doesn't happen by itself.
I think many of us don't appreciate just how much work goes into these things - just for fun.

Sooo - on to this week, I'm really chasing my tail trying to get all my DT cards done before I go on me hollies on Saturday - can't wait - though isn't it typical that just as I'm going away we get good weather - I feel cheated that I'll miss the good weather at home - maybe I shouldn't go lol.

With all of  this going on over these last couple of weeks I haven't had much visiting time to all your blogs - sometimes it comes down to a choice make a card or blogging doesn't it
and well, we all have to work hard at our cards in this game!!!!

The challenge this week over at Fab'n' Funky Challenges is very appropriately

New beginnings

We want there to be something new about your card, it could be a new baby -any occasion that falls into new beginning or you could have used something new on your card or to make your card.  to qualify for the prize you have to tell us what the "new" is on your card

We have a fabulous new sponsor
who are offering a great prize of $10 to spend in store

So here is my "new beginnings" card

I love this little girl! - I was lucky enough to win some Digis from Di's shop a few weeks ago and this is one of the ones I chose-  being used today for the first time.  Sorry - I'm back on the easel thing - I find myself looking at challenges now and thinking - can I make an easel card for that lol.

Keep it Real at MAWTT!

Good morning blog friends

Its a new challenge today over at Moving along with the Times challenge Blog
 - my turn to host this week and I've chosen the theme

Keep it real
(no fantasy figures)

What does that mean you may well be asking, well it's simply this.  The main focus of your card must be a real living thing - people, animals, plants, trees  - any living breathing thing. Now here's the real controversial part - strictly no fantasy figures - that means no fairies, witches, wizards, teddies or toys. At the risk of upsetting some people I'm coming straight out and saying - fairies are not real!! - there I've said it, we're all entitled to our opinions and for today's challenge that is mine!

Here's my card for this weeks challenge.  I'm sure we've got the photograph of this stamp somewhere in our family album!  This - without a doubt - is my son Matthew, when he was little, with our brown tabby Persian cat,Toby.  He was the most gorgeous floppy bagpus of a cat, as soon as I saw this stamp it was mine and I made him a brown tabby when I coloured him!!

I was really excited this week to get a top 3 at Craft your Days Away challenge and  and a top 5 at Crafty Card Makers challenge for my last weeks DT card for MAWTT in the Nautical challenge- lets hope you like this one just as much!

Now for the really exciting part
Our sponsor for this weeks challenge is the fabulous Wild Orchid Crafts
and they are offering a fantastic prise of a £15 voucher to spend in their store

WOC gift_certificate

So come on, this fab prize has to be worth making the biggest of efforts and entering

Its Cow Girl Lili for Inky impressions challenge day

Hello again

I'm back with my second post of the day with my Cow Girl Lili DT card
for the challenge over at the Inky Impressions Challenge Blog
and todays challenge is

Use Lace or trim

This weeks  challenge is being sponsored by 3 Bugs in a Rug!
Here is a bit about their fabulous company:

Kristine and Rick Turner founded Three Bugs in a Rug 5 years ago. After starting an online scrapbook store, Kristine decided to create her own designs. After the overwhelming response to her designs, we closed the online store to concentrate on creating fun pattern paper and coordinating embellishments. We hope you enjoy working with her designs as much as she enjoys creating them.

They are giving a great prize this week
 - so why don't you play along - it could be you!!

This little girl is one of my favourites from Inky Impressions I just love her little cowhide skirt, her knock knees and her boots!  I'm not having a very good week when it comes to liking cards this week - I think we all have these weeks when we just can't please ourselves!  I had an idea in my head when I started this but the card doesn't match it- i don't not like it its just it doesn't look like I had in mind....!

This is what I did....

Its challenge day over at Fab'n'Funky challenges

Hi blog Friends

Its another challenge day over at Fab'n'Funky Challenges and this week we have the theme

Use fabric on your card

We are being sponsored by the wonderful Lili of the Valley this week so lets see your Fab'n'Funky creations for this great challenge I've used this lovely Lili of the valley Vtamp that I got for my birthday in March and was until now uninked - disgraceful!  Though because its a new house stamp its not the sort of thing you jump to immediately but I great one to have in your collection.  Wasn't sure what to do about the fabric so decided to go with felt flowers.

I was asked to make this card by a friend of a friend on the same colour scheme as a previous card I had made - but there will be no more as I only had two sheets of the card!!

A little distressing

Good morning blog friends

Don't worry I'm not here to tell you a sad story to get distressed over - but we do need some distressing over at Creative Craft Challenges this week!!

We have the wonderful Lili of the Valley sponsoring this weeks challenge
and so we want to see your projects on the theme

Distressing

I had such problems making this card, had chosen the card paper and ribbon - even coloured the image but I just couldn't put it together for the life of me - and it certainly didn't start life as an easel card!
I messed on with it all day on and off - took the dog out for a walk, did some work, came back to it and eventually stuck it together and photographed it - but it still didn't look right -when I looked at it I had forgotten to do the shading with my prismas to give it a more distressed/vintage look, by then I was blending the black prisma pencils onto the mostly finished card - I'm amazed that it didn't end up in the bin!! As if that wasn't bad enough when I came to try to photograph it the second time I ended up chasing it round the garden!!  I like to take my photos outside if I can - but didn't think it was quite as windy as it was....

So these terrible photos were taken in my conservatory and I
couldn't do any better so gave up and this is the best I got!

I decided to pick out the green, pink, blue and peach in the papers - more colours than I would normally use together and carried it through with the embellies so this card is not really me at all - I'm usually a two or three colour girl at the most.  The only thing i can say is it does actually work and looks better in real life than in these photos!!

This is what I did.....

Image - Lili of the Valley - Party girl
Coloured with copics and prismaclour pencils
Papers - First edition - spring feast
Sentiment Lili of the valley
Ribbon - Sam Pooles creative studios
Butterfly punches  Martha Stewart and papermania
Roses - dienamics dies with a pink dew drop inside
Green pearls - kaisercraft
Distress ink - Tim Holtz - tea die
Die cut circles - spellbinders
Die cut flower border and corner (used as leafy sprig) - Memory box

Challenges I am entering with this card

Crafty cardmakers - birthday with balloons
Ooh la la creations - ribbon or twine
Love to create challenge- Bingo - Ribbon /punches/flowers
Lilis little fairies - use your favourite craft tool (Grand Calibre die cutting machine)
Delightful challenges - Distressing
Willow Sketchie challenge  -handmade flowers

Well that about the end of my distressing tale!

See you all tomorrow

Hugs Judith xx
