Die cuts and punches challenge at Inky Impressions

Happy Wednesday

I hope the sun is still shining where you are - what a difference a week makes!  Yesterday was another fab day, when I walked the dog along the coastal path today and looked down to the beach it could have been any beach in Spain - though I suspect the sea was freezing!  - hundreds of kids, tents and sandcastles galore- oh the sunshine always makes me happy and I love to be out and about in it!

Today's card is my DT card for Inky Impressions challenge and the theme is

Die cuts and punches

I decided to go all out and die cut everything!- layers, flowers, leaves, tag and even a shaped card  but disaster of disasters my Grand Calibur  decided to fall to bits half way through! - I could have cried.  I heard something inside drop into the bottom and the handle jammed, I'm going to have to work out if I can open it up and put it back together.  Luckily I have a sizzix as well but it means messing about with shims to use the spellbinders - none-the-less - for the love of an Inky DT card I persevered and got it all done.

This is what I did.....

The challenge is no stamped images at Fab'n'Funky challenges this week

Good morning blog friends

Today being Wednesday - unlike yesterday that was Tuesday (as Sue kindly pointed out for me!!) we have a new challenge at Fab'n'Funky set by this weeks hostess
our lovely
Ginny
quite a tricky one I think for a lot of us who are used to stamped cards
 - but one to get your creativity going

No Stamped Images!!

It's not something I do often but I have got a few cards in my back catalogue that I've never shown and decided to use two of them today, some occasions lend themselves to die cutting and I made these cards as a pair for the birth of a friends Grandson - one for the grandparents and the other for baby Sam and his parents

I suppose these types of card are easy to make - what takes the time is deciding on the layout!  Unfortunately because I made them a while ago I can't remember most of what went into them - though all the die cutting is on the Cricut expression machine.
There's a few stickers and gems and thats about it!

We are sponsored by the fabulous Joanna Sheen

and the prize is £10 to spend in store - definitely worth getting creative for.

I'm entering these cards into the following challenges

Make it Monday - Anything goes
Love to create - spots and dots
Crafty Boots - babies
Samuel Taylors Crafts - Use die cuts

Thanks for stopping by

hugs

Believe it or not I was a bit stuck for what to do for this one - couldn't get my head into pink and pretty gear at all, I've been having a few mojo problems of late and this one was top of the heap! ....Until I saw this fab new digi called Jules that Krista Smith was giving away on her blog this week (isn't it just so pretty) and she just screamed at me - PINK, PRETTY PEARLS lol.

I just decided to keep it simple and used just the one big flower as an accent together with the leaves (a die I've had for ages and would you believe never used before!) - just love this little girly and she's pink from head to toe!

This is what I did....

We're all going on a summer holiday
(go on sing along - you know you want to!)

I really hope none of you are going on a summer holiday in this weather - unless you're a duck, i've never seen so much rain in my life, I think this week has been the worst so far because the rain just hasn't stopped for 3 days now.  But when this challenge was set we really expected it to be summer weather so my card for this week definitely reflects this - though you might put a different slant on it!!

I saw this cute little girl waiting to go on her summer holidays over at Di's digi downloads (I've got a bit of a love affair going on with these digis at the moment) and here she is....

She's got a bit of a happy look going on there so I think the sun's shining where she is anyway, just sitting on her suitcase waiting to go - camera at the ready - oooh I want to go!!!

Its fireworks and bling at Inky Impressions challenge blog today

Hello again

I'm back with my second post of the day.  It's supposed to be my Inky Impressions post but there's no Inky Impressions card from me today!! I started off full of good intentions that I would post this week (its not my week but I really liked the challenge and wanted to do it).

Inky impressions are being sponsored by Kenny K this week  and that was another good reason to join in!  I saw this Kenny K special 4th of July digi and knew it was perfect for my nephews 21st birthday card, that was a few weeks ago so I decided to keep it for this challenge.  I made the box to match and tied it up with red white and blue twine and I had put a little money pouch underneath the easel to give him money for his birthday.  When I gave him the box at his party (he was keeping all of his presents to open when he got home)  - he was really puzzled as to what was in the box - bet he didn't expect a sassy little girl!!

I really pushed the boat out with this one and got the 4th of July papers from Raspberry Road as well (at least I think that's what it was- it was weeks ago and I can only half remember - they're definitely Raspberry road!!)

I had a great idea for my Inky card too - but it never got any further than that - my Grandson Jacob was christened at the weekend and we had a party for 60 people afterwards in our house and I'm afraid my inky card got lost in the preparations!  Here is Jacob his with his Mammy and Daddy - my daughter Alison and son in law Steven. As you can see Jacobs a bit of a bruiser and he's really long- he's only 6 months old but is now into 12-18 months size clothes - he's got legs like tree trunks -his Mammy had legs like those when she was a baby - thankfully they slimmed down when she got bigger!!)

Anyway - back to the card

This is what I did...

Digi - Kenny K 4th of July
Coloured with copics and prismacolour pencils
Papers - raspberry road - 4th July (I think!)
Sentiment (I'm not a troublemaker)- Whimsy stamps
Happy birthday circular sentiment - Lili of the valley
21 - cut on sizzix die - Tim Holtz vintage market
Key charm - Ink Impressions
bling etc from my stash
box made with ultimate pro from crafters companion

I'm entering this card into the following challenges

Kenny k's crafty crew -Patriotic -red white and blue for GB
Celebrate the occasion - 4th July
Incy Wincy - use only the colours of your country (red white and blue) GB
The cutie pie challenge - one for the boys

Is it Shells fault that its raining cats and dogs at MTTC - and everywhere?!

Good morning all

Well I hope it is where you are its a lovely warm day here.

Today is challenge day at My time to Craft and for some reason best known to herself Shell chose the theme - Its raining cats and dogs!  Now this challenge was set weeks ago - did she have a premonition or just wish it on us!  Either way its definitely true of last week -here in the frozen north,  we nearly drowned we had so much rain!  Thunder, lightening, water running down the roads like a river, trains off, roads closed - I still can't believe how much chaos it caused and by the weekend it was just as if it never happened. Since then we've has a few showers but on the whole it's been ok and really quite warm - weird weather, I think this must be summer!

Anyway on this this weeks challenge, I was looking for a digi for this challenge and had won some from Di's digidownloads on Digidownloads challenge.  While I was claiming my prize I asked Di if she had any "rainy" digis and sure enough she came up with the goods! - a few days later this cute little digi appeared in her shop - so thanks Di - you're a star and this is just the sort of thing I had in mind - I love Di's digis with all the cute little characters!

I made this card as a thankyou for my friend Christine.  It was our grandson's christening on Sunday and we had the party afterwards at our house -60 people to feed  a tall order and it took me nearly all the week before to tidy the house! It was a lovely day, we really enjoyed it.  Anyway Christine just did sooo much to help on the day - she was a real star, along with her husband Steven who has a butchers business -he baked us lots of delicious pies and quiches - our very bestest friends - thank you x
