Winter is coming - at Moving along with the Times Challenge this week!

Good morning all

I'm here today to share my DT card for Moving Along With The times Challenge this week.  It's my turn to host over there this week and I chose the theme

Winter is coming
(Winter themed or fantasy based Game of thrones theme)

I got the idea for the name from Game of Thrones - I watched the TV series and decided to read the books - a real epic task! - I'm really enjoying them - just about at the end of book 2 so I've got pleanty more to keep me busy

Anyway - I was all full of an idea that I would make a fabulous dragon card - and I know there are some fabulous dragon images around - only I didn't find one!!

So I stuck with the easy option and made a winter themed card instead
(I'm so disappointed with myself lol)

I used a fab image from Stampart design by Kathryne at Whimsystamps
he's called Owl-ways Winter and is available here
the sentiment is also included as a bonus set

You may recognise the papers if you visited me yesterday - yes the same one! - I think I must be on a tartan thing just now lol -  But after checking out my Christmas papers I just liked this one best so here it is again!! -not to mention more Wild Rose studios dies that I really do think I'm in love with.

This is what I did....

Image and Sentiment - Owl-ways Winter from Stampart Design by Kathryne
Coloured with copics
Papers - Dovecraft 12 days of Christmas
Card - Papermania - Krafty Christmas pack
Ribbon -Crafty ribbons
Holly berry - papermania
Berries on holly dies - viva decor red pen
Inking on dies -TH bundled sage DI
Glamour dust for added sparkle!
Dies - spellbinders circle and Scalloped circle
        - Wild Rose Studios Holly flourish and Small frame from Snowflake frame set

We'd love to see you at MAWTT this week

Challenges I'm entering with this card

Jingle belles - Christmas card with a creature (6/11)
Polka doodles - Christmas fun (31/10)
Aud sentiments - 2 or 3 word sentiment (5/11)
As you like it - Cute or Elegant - for me its cute (most of the time!) - cute is usually easier and cuter!! -thats a good enough reason for me (5/11)

Have a Beary Happy Christmas xx

Good morning all

Well its Wednesday again and another week has been marked off in the countdown to Christmas
I'm so pleased that we started the monthly Christmas challenges at Fab'n'Funky Challenges this year and as its the last week of the month today is the day for Octobers Christmas Challenge

I have myself a nice little stash of Christmas cards now- well over 20 - so much better than I've done other years and I'm thinking that I might not have such a panic over cards this year - phew!!

So as usual for our Christmas challenge it's an easy one

Christmas

My card is made with one of the really cute bears from Stampart Design by Kathryne
This is one of the bears in Little Bears Winter Fun set
and the sentiment comes with it too

Available here from Stampart Design by Kathryne at Whimsy Stamps

We are proudly sponsored at Fab'n'Funky this week
by

and

Dilly Beans Digi Stamps

there are great prizes up for grabs - call over to the challenge blog here to see details of the challenge and the fab designs that the DT girls made this week

I  love colouring Kathy's cute bear images and this one was no exception,  I always use the same colours to colour my bears Copics E40, E41 and E43 - but shock horror - I found my E43 totally dried out!! - I've sent for a new refill but it forced me to use a new colour combo - and I rather liked it. For this one I used E35, E34 and E31 and a touch of E33 too.  I rather like the colour its sort of traditional golden teddy bear,  after that he's simply shaded with a grey prismacolor pencil and there he is a golden coloured teddy bear!!

I'm loving these dies I bought from Wild Rose studios - it's the first of their dies I've bought - and it definitely won't be the last - they cut beautifully first time (no poking out the pieces  and turning on the diecutting platform to get it to cut ) - I was well impressed.  The corner die has been cut several times and cut and pieced to make the border and the snowflake on the ribbon.  It really is very versatile.

This is what I did...

Image and sentiment - Little bear winter fun from Stampart design by Kathryne
Coloured with copics and prismacolour pencils
Papers - 12 days of Christmas from Dovecraft
Vintage seam binding ribbon - Crafty Ribbons
Dies - Snowflake corner and Snow Frame from Wild Rose studios
Sentiment cut with Sue Wilson Saltzberg from the Austrian collection
Glamour dust added to snowflakes for a little bit of sparkle

I hope to see your Christmas cards at Fab'n'Funky this week - you know you really need to!!

.Run Run Run!

Good Morning all

I'm here on a Saturday morning for the first time in ages!
and only because I'm very late lol

This is my DT card for Fab'n'Funky Challenges
I had this card half done and it's taken me until now to get a chance to get it finished!

Our challenge theme this week is

In Stitches
(having a laugh)

so you can either show us a funny card or a card with stitching on it

Here's my card

using the image Run Derek Run available here

It's from our fabulously fun sponsor for this week

Doctor Digi

I chose this image because it's perfect for my son Matthews birthday
- even though it's not until next April!!

Matthew has just recently left home and is living up in Edinburgh.  All grown up he is with a job, a car and a room in a flat share in central Edinburgh. it's not the first time he's been away from home, he spent 3 years in Norwich when he was at University there - and that's sort of where this card fits in.  He's still in touch with his old house mates from uni but they're scattered all over the country so don't meet up to often.  But they have an annual reunion each year - and next year it's to be in Berlin - one of them decided that as the Berlin half marathon  is on while they are there that he was going to enter - and Matthew decided he would do it too - all well and good but the most he's ever run in recent years was to catch a bus!!! - So he's in training and he's got loads of time - but we still all think its more than a bit funny that Matthew is running - hence this card!!

Here's what I did...

Image - Run Derek Run - from Dr  Digi's house of stamps
Coloured with spectrum noir pens and pencils
Papers - LOTV - father knows best
Sentiment - Anna Griffin Birthday sentiments set from QVC
Tiny brads- Papermania
"Run" - punched with a very old letter punch set I got from QVC when I first started making cards

I decided to just post this late as a midway reminder -We'd love to see your fun cards - or perhaps your elegant stitched ones - either way we'd love to see you at Fab'n'Funky - and youve still got loads of time to enter

Hugs

Pennys Paper crafty challenge - Polka dots and pearls

Hello again

Here I am with card number two for today - this time for

Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge

Our theme this week is

Polka dots and pearls

I had chosen this very pretty image from

Sassy Studio Designs

she is called Rapunzel Sasy - available here

Coloured her up with copics  in a  spellbinders die cut frame - then pretty much couldn't decide what to do with her!  I had some lovely linen effect cards left over from some invitations I had made  and as she is such a pretty little girl I decided that she didn't need much at all.  She has pearls in her hair and my polka dots are on the little organza ribbon, the sentiment is from the lovely new set of Anna Griffin birthday sentiments that I got from QVC last week  - so that's it -done!!

Hope you'll pop over to Penny's this week - there are some lovely cards and we have some lovely new teamies too

Hugs

We're celebrating Halloween at the paper shelter this week

Good morning all

Whoops just checked and my scheduled post didin't!! - here it is : )

I'm here for another one of my Wednesday 3 card tricks lol.  This is my first DT post of the day and its for

The Paper Shelter

We are being very seasonable and celebrating that spooky time of year!

our theme is simply

Halloween

I used a lovely new digi that was just released at TPS last week called

The Cutest Wizard available here
Together with those fab Spooktacular signs papers - so useful for all things Halloween and they're available here

I made another of my gift/trick or treat bags - like the one I made  a couple of weeks ago and really liked how it turned out.
My daughter Alison is going to come round trick or treating with her friend Rachel - well they are bringing their two little boys with them lol -my grandson Jacob and Rachel's little boy Leo -  both almost three years old.  So I decided I'd make them a bag each and find some goodies to fill it with for them - not sure if they'll have a clue what's going on but I'm sure they'll enjoy it.  They're only calling at our house and Leo's grandmas house - probably enough for a first Halloween outing I think.  Funnily enough I remember Alison and Rachel going out with the rest of their friends when they were teenagers - they were supposed to be based on the film "The Craft" - all short skirts and too much make up as I recall - happy days - how time flies!!

Anyway I digress - back to my card and this weeks challenge.

As always we have a fab prize for our winner at TPS

Challenge prize badge

I hope you'll play along with us

This is what I did,,,

Image - Thcutest wizard from TPS
Coloured with copics and prismacolor encils
Paper - from the Spooktacular signs paper set at TPS
Glitter glues from Martha Stewart
Kraft bag - from Michaels
Stars - cut with a Nallie Snellen die

That talented bunch of DT girls over at TPS have mad some gorgeous projects this week - pop over and have a look at what they have made with the fabulous Halloween images and papers that we have at TPS

We're having a white out!

Good morning all

Hoping you are all bright and breezy this morning and that the weather is being kind to you in your little corner of the world.  As for my post title - no we're not having snow here in the frozen north of England  but we do want to see your white cards at Moving Along With The Times this week, so a little snow is definitely a good thing - well on your card at least!

The theme this week is

White Only

I decided to have a play with my dies to make this card and it turned out pretty much as I had in mind - which if you knew how I mess on with this type of card is an achievement in itself!!
It's another one of those big 8x8 inch cards - I'm on a real roll with these big Christmas cards just now.  My main problem was getting a good photograph. I got a couple of really weird ones where the words and embossing sort of reversed - strangely enough it looked ok upside down as I was manipulating it in my photo editor to try to do something with it - but I thought you might like to see it the right way up, so after much repositioning and changing of lights I finally got it!!

I have been having a little retail therapy this past week to cheer myself up and part of my shop was some new Christmas dies and together with some old favourites they were perfect for this card.  I also had a good old shop when Anna Griffin visited QVC this week, I just love her range  - I got the lovely bow dies, the Christmas card kit for quick and easy lovely cards (I'd rather buy this kit than buy cards - I just can't bear to buy Christmas cards!!) I also got some stamps and a big hole in my bank balance!! - the card kit came today and if you like vintage style its well worth it - as everything is in there down to the inserts and envelopes -and there'll be lots of embellies left over for some inspired creations!

This is what I did,,,,,,

8x8 inch card
White card
Sparkle embellies from creative expressions
Noel die - Sue Wilson at Creative expressions
Snowflake corner die (I used 4 to make a frame) - Wild Rose Studios
Layered poinsettia dies - Spellbinders - my favourite poinsettia die by far
Leafy spruce looking thing!! -Mariannes creatables (I think its called mistletoe?)  - coated with
Cosmic shimmer jewels - iced snow

I hope I've inspired you to make a WOW (white on white card)  I think they make very elegant special Christmas cards which are really quite easy to make once you get all the dies cut and embossed, I think I'll make a couple more while I'm on a roll!

There are some really beautiful cards over at MAWTT - if you need some more persuasion to have a go click here!

hugs

This is the cute Sammi Boo Carolling from Lacy Sunshine available here

Sorry I haven't been around much .....and It's Christmas!.....at Fab'n'Funky Challenges

Good Morning all

I'm so sorry that I haven't been around too much these past couple of weeks
We've had such a bad time,

My lovely daughter Alison was 3 months pregnant and a scan showed that the baby had died so they have had a really awful week with everything that that has meant, and I have been looking after my grandson for much of the time while they have been dealing with it all.

To add to that we had two funerals to go to one on Friday and the other Monday, each the parent of very good, very old friends, people we have known much of our lives.  So all in all a very sad time for us all.

I've been doing a bit of crafting when I've had the time - it has helped just to be quietly doing something, but blogging has been non existent.  I feel as if I haven't visited properly for weeks.  it seems to have been one thing after another happening lately - I'm sure things can only get better!

Anyway I'm hoping to get back to crafting and blogging and visiting you all again over the next few days and I'm making a start today with my DT card for

Fab'n'Funky Challenges

The theme this week is

Christmas
(with an optional twist of tags bags and boxes)

I decided to make a big 8 x 8 inch card with this lovely image called The Nativity available here  from

Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps

I distressed it slightly with white distress paint from TH and I quite like how it turned out.

This is what I did...

I'm guest DT at the Crafting musketeers!

Good morning all

I'm back again with a card for you today for my GDT spot at

The Crafting Musketeers

I was lucky enough to win a lovely prize in their challenge a couple of months back and they offered me a GDT spot to go with it - so of course I jumped at the chance! - thank you ladies

The prize was a lovely kit from Hobby House and I decided to use it to make my card for this challenge

The theme is

Autumn Colours

and this little image was just perfect for it

Everything on the card  came with the kit (including the card and envelope!) except for the three pearls and the leaves - which I punched with a Martha Stewart leaf Punch -, and there's another 5 cards, toppers and all the trimmings to make 5 more lovely cards, so quick and easy and you can add as much as you want to each card - think I might have to have more of these for quick, easy, pretty cards.  The strange thing about it is that I have those papers, string of pearls and flowers in my stash already - yet I never put them together like this before -the kit was a great inspiration indeed!

Hop over to the crafty Musketeers to see more fabulous cards using Autumn colours

We're a little bit prickly this week at MAWTT!

Good morning all

Its team A's turn to post over at Moving along with the times this week and our lovely Janice has chosen a great theme.

Hedgehogs!

I thought it was really original because there are loads of hedgehog stamps about - but i wasn't nearly organised enough with my card I'm afraid - I left it a bit last minute with the perfect stamp in mind (so I thought!) but my memory is obviously failing because when I got it out my hedgehog was a rabbit!!  I had a quick sort through my digis and found this little cutie called Spring bonnet and available here from Di's digis - not exclusively a hedgehog image but he's there so I hope its ok : /

I used to colour a lot of Di's images then sort of got out of the habit - but I enjoyed colouring this one - I really like the style of these stamps - I think I'll have to hunt them out some more, so watch this space,

This is what I did....

Image -  spring bonnet from Di's digi downloads
Coloured with copics
Papers - blank canvas from First Edition
Ribbon  and pearls from my stash
Sentiment - whiff of joy
Tag cut with MFT label die
kraft card - Crafters companion

Hope you can brave those prickles and drag out some hedgehogs for us to see!!

challenges I'm entering with this card

Use three papers at Pennys Paper Crafty challenge this week

Good morning all

I'm back with my second DT card of the day - this time for

Pennys Paper Crafty challenge

the theme this week is

use at least 3 patterned papers

I decided to make yet another Christmas card for the stash

using Winter Cardinal from Sparkle n Sprinkle
available here

I had only ever seen photographs of the cardinal birds until last year when I was delighted to see some of these lovely birds nesting in the tree right at the edge of the lake that our garden overlooks in our holiday home in Florida.  They really were a sight to behold, the flashes of red caught my eye at first as the little birds darted in and out of the tree in the mornings - here in England we have our native robin as our Christmas bird - but I have to say I really was quite taken with these stunningly coloured red birds.  I think it was just the males with the bright red feathers - the females being more browny beige with red markings but very pretty little birds just the same.

We have three great sponsors at Penny's this week

and

and

who are both offering their fab digi stamps as prizes - so well worth playing along with us
This is what I did....

Image - Winter Cardinal from Sparkle n Sprinkle
Coloured with - copics
Papers - MME Vintage Christmas
Ribbon - Carnmeal Cottage
Dies - all Mariannes
distress ins - TH tea die and bundled sage
Sentiment stamp- from Hotfudge studio holiday stamp set
other embellies from my stash

Hope we see you over at Pennys this week!
